About Me: For Students & Families
Hi! I’m Deisha — a recent graduate, experienced editor, former humanitarian, and dedicated mentor who helps students and early-career professionals find clarity, confidence, and direction.
I didn’t grow up surrounded by people in international relations or public service—both of my parents are engineers and immigrants who were learning a new country at the same time I was learning how to find my path. Everything I’ve achieved so far—getting into top schools, building a career in global development, leading mentorship programs—came from asking questions, experimenting, and learning by doing. That’s why I’m passionate about helping students and young professionals find their own way forward, especially if the path doesn’t feel clear yet.
Over the past few years, I’ve worked in education support roles, acted as a Girl Mentor for the Alice Paul Institute, volunteered at DC public schools, served as the Professional Development Chair for Young Professionals at USAID, and edited two award-winning research publications. I was a student leader for Kappa Delta Sorority, president for the GW Indian Students Association, Manager for GW TEDxFoggyBottom, and other student organizations. I also founded my university’s South Asian Mentorship Program and worked as a peer editor throughout college—supporting students across majors to improve their writing and refine their goals.
I’ve also successfully navigated the college and graduate school admissions process myself, earning spots at Columbia, NYU, Georgetown, GW, and more. I know what a strong application looks like—and how overwhelming the process can feel for students and families alike.
I focus not only on helping students reach the finish line, but also on helping them recognize and amplify their unique strengths along the way. My approach is personal, honest, and collaborative. I offer:
Thoughtful essay and application support
Guidance for students planning their academic or professional path
Support that’s both structured and flexible to meet each student’s needs; not only focusing on creating results, but also deliverables.
A warm, judgment-free space to explore ideas and build confidence
If there’s ever a question I can’t answer, I’ll help connect you to someone who can. I believe in building not just strong applications—but strong support systems, too.
